Mirabello Bay on the northeastern coast of Crete in the Mediterranean Sea proved to be every bit as lovely as its lyrical name suggests, and was one of the favourite places that my wife Liz and I explored during our two week stay on the island.
The bay itself is huge, with fantastic views from all sides, which is why I created this panoramic collage of the scene looking north from the south side of Mirabello, taking in the full sweep of the bay right out to its most northeasterly extremity.
We were actually driving along the road from Agios Nikolaos to Sitia when we stopped at a convenient layby for a bite to eat and to admire the scenery out over the bay, and I wasn't going to let the opportunity pass by to record the stunning view for posterity and just for the enjoyment involved in photographing such beauty.
