The story behind this image

The north coast of Crete in the Mediterranean Sea is the most heavily developed part of the island, but it's still possible to find relatively unspoilt seaside villages and shoreline

We have one of the hosts at our resort to thank for advising us to visit Milatos, just a half hour drive from where we were staying near Hersonissos.

Milatos proved to be a lovely place, and we ended up here two or three times during our two week stay on the island in order to catch the sunset and to enjoy eating in the restaurants along the shoreline.

The azure waters of the Mediterranean, gently lapping on the pebble beach, were just right for a quick paddle, camera in hand in order to photograph this composition ephasising the sweep of the breaking wavelets and the lovely colours of the sea and stones beneath.
