The north coast of Crete in the Mediterranean Sea is the most heavily developed part of the island, but it's still possible to find relatively unspoilt stretches of shoreline, such as this small area of rocky beach in-between two sun umbrella bedecked resorts at Malia.
My wife Liz and I spent a happy couple of hours paddling and photographing in the shallow waters, enjoying the cooling waters on our hot feet and the stunning colours of the Mediterranean set against the ochre rock shelves on which we were strolling.
