My normal landscape photography hunting ground takes in the coast, mountains, lakes and forests of beautiful North Wales, but every now and then my wife Liz and I will venture a bit further afield, especially if the weather looks good and we've got a whole free day to do what we want.
Such was the case on a Saturday in April 2018, with clear sunny skies and an empty diary.
So we decided to take the two and a half hour drive southwards through the Snowdonia National Park (a treat in itself) to Cregennan Lakes, nestled in the mountains above the Mawddach Estuary and the seaside towns of Barmouth and Fairbourne.
A hike around the twin lakes is a real treat and there's even a car park with a toilet. (Much needed after that two and a half hour drive!)
This view of the shoreline of larger of the two lakes was taken mid afternoon with the sun dipping down toward the horizon, and features a boathouse at the foot of a shapely hill called lookout point reflecting in the calm waters of the lake.

Filters - Polarising filter used to enhance colours. 2 stop neutral density graduated filter used to balance exposure between the scene and its reflection

Comments - Tripod, mirror lockup and cable release used to prevent camera movement.
