A dramatic night time cloudscape was well worth pulling off the A55 at Llandulas to photograph, on our way home from an evening on the North Wales coast.
Normally I would shun areas of obvious light pollution when photographing at night, but on this occasion I welcomed the lurid yellow glow on the clouds from the lights of the coastal strip, as I knew that that would give me a great colour contrast against the deep blue of the night sky.
But the image wouldn't be complete without a point of interest, and in this case the red anti-collision beacons of the Colwyn Bay windfarm dotted along the horizon provide a great delineation between the sky and sea, giving a natural resting point for the viewer's eye after having taken in those amazing clouds.
One occasion where light pollution actually helped a night photograph.
