Another beautiful evening in North Wales, and my wife Liz and I are up on our local mountain, Moel Famau, making the most of it.
The sun has already set, and we're the only ones left on the slopes to enjoy and photograph the light show that occurs as the last of the sun's rays underlight the clouds towards the west
I find that some of the most evocative natural lighting occurs in the thirty minutes or so either before sunrise, or after sunset, in that brief moment in time when the sun is just below the horizon and is making its presence felt by lighting up the clouds in glorious pinks and mauves. It's at times like these that I just stand and watch, stunned by the show that, for me, so clearly demonstrates the glory and wisdom of God.
It's impossible to convey all the emotion involved in watching such a scene evolve before your eyes in a mere photograph, but I rather like this subtle rendition showing the absolute last gasp of sunlight on the evening clouds.
