The story behind this image

For photographers and geologists there can be no better place than the beautiful and geologically varied Isle of Anglesey, just off the North Wales coast.

One of my favourite spots is the northwest coast in and around Church Bay, where the golden sands are littered with a variety of multi-hued rocks.

The best time to visit this west facing coastline is just before sunset, when the warm, low angled rays of light set the golden cliffs on fire and pick out all the lovely details in the beach and rocks.

This particular rock, with its slight green tinge and golden top, was especially lovely to my eye, set against the gold of the cliff behind and surrounded by a swathe of small pebbles and seaweed.
