My wife Liz and I had spent a glorious Saturday walking the coast on the island of Anglesey just off the North Wales coast, and we decided to spend the last hour or so before sunset at one of our favourite locations - the tiny church of St Patrick and the cliffs at Llanbadrig on the north coast of the island.
Being north facing, this is the perfect spot for a sunset during the summer months and we duly sat on the cliffs and watched as our golden orb sank over the horizon at the end of another day.
There wasn't a cloud in the sky to catch the last of the light but instead of heading home we decided to hang around a bit to see how the afterglow would look on such a clear evening.
Wow! Were we in for treat as the sky took on vivid shades of orange, magenta, blue and violet overhead, and I started photographing all over again.
The churchyard we had explored earlier yielded some graphic shapes to set in silhouette against the glowing sky and gave me this wonderful composition.
My only complaint is that camera sensors and computer monitors can't hope to match the colour gamut we were treated to that evening. You'll just have to visit for yourselves and hope to see something similar.
