Taken on its own, the ruined tower of Dolbadarn Castle is singularly unimpressive compared to the other more dramatic historical monuments in this area of North Wales.
But its setting, high on a hill in the Snowdonia National Park overlooking the beautiful Llyn Pardarn and with the peaks of the Snowdon horseshoe in the background, make Dolbadarn one of the most photographed castles in the area.
On this particular summer's evening with the sun low in the sky to the west, casting a golden glow over the scene, the castle stood out beautifully against the shadowed mountain behind.
Well worth taking the time to capture the scene in a photograph, to be enjoyed again and again.
