It had been pouring with rain for most of October 2019, but with a break in the weather my wife Liz and I finally got out of doors for some fresh air and exercise.
Our chosen destination was Capel Curig in the Snowdonia National Park, North Wales, an area renowned for its natural beauty and one of the wettest places in the UK!
The Afon Llugwy river that runs alongside the A5 trunk road for a distance at Capel Curig was in full spate, a most impressive sight as the raging waters steamed over submerged rocks and cascaded down waterfalls, surging past ancient trees still showing the vestiges of late autumn colour.
So it was out with the camera and tripod, with me having to adopt some uncomfortable positions hanging out over stone walls by the side of the road to get a series of photographs like this one of the river blasting along its gorge.
And I didn't just shoot still images.
With such drama on offer below my perch I took full advantage and also shot a series of video clips to create my Snowdonia River #2 compilation.
But after a few minutes the rain rolled back in (as expected in Capel Curig!) and it was time to retreat to the Moel Siabod café for a much needed hot cup of coffee.
Well worth the effort, and a bit of a soaking, to photograph and film such dramatic action though!
