My normal stamping ground is the northern half of the Snowdonia National Park, taking in Snowdon, Tryfan, Pen yr Ole Wen and the other peaks of the Carneddau and Glyderau ranges.
But every now and then my wife Liz and I will venture further afield, heading south to the lovely landscapes of southern Snowdonia around the seaside towns of Fairhaven, Barmouth and the stunning Mawddach estuary.
One of our 'go to' places in this part of the world are the magnificent Cregennan Lakes, set high above the estuary and with views in all directions.
To the east of the lakes lies the shapely mountain of Cader Idris, surrounded by a rolling topography of lesser peaks, all with a much greener aspect than the bare rocks of the mountains to the colder north.
On this particular day in early June 2017 we were treated to some great cloudplay over the peaks and valleys, with patches of sunlight and shadow chasing each other across the undulating terrain.
Typical Snowdonia light, and an absolute delight to watch and photograph!
