I'm always attracted to water when looking for beautiful places to photograph, it's such a dynamic element that can lift a scene from ordinary to interesting, or even spectacular.
So when Liz and I woke up on the only sunny morning of our holiday in the Scottish Borders we knew that a tour of the various reservoirs in the area was the thing to do.
Well we weren't disappointed, with stunning scenery such as the surroundings of the Megget reservoir shown here.
The water in this scene isn't the reservoir itself, but rather the run-off stream that meanders along the valley floor in-between the Tweedmuir hills.
Even so, it provides that dynamic element that brings the image to life, as well as providing a handy lead-in line to guide the eye to the old stone bridge which is the focal point of this composition.
