Bonamargy Friary, just outside Ballycastle on Northern Ireland's Antrim coast was one of those places that Liz and I were determined to find during our stay in the area during the summer of 2013.
Well we drove up and down the road where the friary was allegedly located but couldn't find it at first. We were expecting quite a large set of ruins, complete with a big sign and a tea shop, but in fact when we actually found it the friary was quite small and well hidden behind some trees in the middle of a golf course.
Walking around the ruins we found this old stone room displaying wonderful textures and colours in the walls, floor and ceiling.
But what made the scene for me was the splash of light coming through the archway at the far end of the room, giving a fantastic highlight to the room and posing the question 'what lies beyond'?
It was one of those scenes that asks more questions than it answers, and of course I had to take a photo.
