This is the estuary at Ravenglass, a small fishing village situated on the west coast of the Lake District.
Liz and I spent a couple of hours wandering round this charming and well preserved historical site which is the start of Hadrian's wall among other things.
This view of small boats lined up on the estuary took a bit of squelching through mud to get everything in the frame correctly lined up, with the boat's mooring rope acting as a leading line to draw one's eye through the image.
A conversion to monochrome was fitting, and helps to convey something of the sleepy atmosphere prevalent on this late Autumn afternoon.
I wonder how Ravenglass looks on a sunny day? Maybe we'll find out sometime in the future.
