The story behind this image

Of all the thousands of paths, hikes and trails in the Snowdonia National Park in North Wales, one of the nicest is also one of the easiest - a stroll through the autumn woodlands along the Afon Llugwy at Betws-y-Coed.

This ancient woodland is at its best for just a couple of weeks in October, as the leaves turn golden and orange before being stripped away in the winter storms.

My wife Liz and I picked a beautiful day for our stroll, with the low angled sun bringing out the best of the colours in the trees and adding a sparkle to the tumbling waters of the Afon Llugwy.
