The story behind this image

The river Conwy passes through some amazing scenery on its route through the Snowdonia National Park to the sea at Conway on the North Wales coast.

One of the most dramatic and beautiful stretches of this river is the area around Betws-y-Coed, where the waters flow through steeply wooded glades over small cascades and waterfalls.

This image shows the river at one end of the magical Fairy Glen, an area of ancient myth and legend.

But far more importantly to me, this is an area of superb light and colour, especially in autumn when the trees put on their vivid display and fallen leaves dapple the rocks along the river with speckles of golden treasure.

I will often make the effort to climb down to the river bank from the road above, just to sit and wonder, and take the odd photo of course!
