Having driven up the amazing coastal road north from Larne in County Antrim, Northern Ireland, Liz and I arrived at our holiday destination of Waterfoot just before sunset.
This was the sight that greeted me as I got out of the car, and I forgot all about the formalities of checking in as I grabbed my camera bag and tripod and ran to the beach a couple of hundred metres away.
Overhead there were heavy cumulus clouds racing by, but on the western horizion a band of clear sky was allowing the dying rays of the setting sun to sweep seachlight-like across the headland at the end of the bay.
Arriving breathless at the edge of the sea I only managed three exposures before the gap in the clouds closed up, banishing the light for another day.
This photo is the best of them, with the balance between lit and dark areas of the headland just about right.
Needless to say I walked back to our bed and breakfast a lot slower than I ran to beach!
