I love beaches, especially those near where I live in North Wales.
They're such dynamic environments, constantly being re-shaped by wind and water, and whether you're looking at the large view, or focusing down to just a small detail, there's almost always something interesting to look at and photograph.
Such was my state of mind while strolling along the windswept beach at Conwy Morfa with my wife Liz, taking a battering from the stiff breeze and blowing sand.
But that blowing sand, apart from stinging our exposed skin, was also making some lovely mini-landscapes around the rocks at the upper margin of the beach.
This particular dark rock, with its contrasting white vein of quartz, caught my eye, nestled as it was in a shapely sand ripple.
So a few seconds' pause to compose the shot, a click of the shutter and we were on our way again, looking for the next arrangement of sand and stone to admire.
