A stiff breeze was whipping loose sand up and shot blasting my exposed legs as Liz and I took a somewhat weatherbeaten stroll along the shoreline at Conwy Morfa on the North Wales coast.
On the upper margins of the beach, where sand gave way to stones and then grass, the drifting sand had formed wonderful shapes and patterns as the airflow swirled and eddied around groups of rocks.
I was drawn to these mini-landscapes like a duck to water, and spent a happy half hour exploring different arrangements of shape, colour and texture as the wind whistled in my ears.
Eventually we'd had enough, me of photographing and Liz of the wind, so we turned around, and with the wind now thankfully at our backs we made our way back to the car, somewhat windswept but refreshed and happy at finding such lovely little cameos to unexpectedly enjoy.
