With a high tidal range and relatively flat beaches, the North Wales coast is a great place to visit as the tide is receding, leaving large pools of calm, reflective water behind.
This image shows such a situation on the beach at Penmaenmawr, with the setting sun picking out details and bathing the headland in warm evening light.
A large pool reflects the scene, and the striated clouds overhead complete the picture.
I used a 2 stop ND graduated filter to balance the exposure between the sky and the reflection, otherwise the overall lovely tonality of the scene would have been lost.
