I wandered lonely as a cloud....
I'm always on the lookout for shapely, well positioned clouds to include in my photographic compositions, so I was delighted when this solitary cumulus cloud drifted overhead while I was walking along the beach at Llanbedrog on Wales' Llyn Peninsula.
When I'm photographing at the seaside I almost always use a polarising filter to reduce glare off the sea and bring out the colours in the water, but on this occasion I used to filter to darken the blue sky, allowing the white cloud to really stand out against the background.
Then it was just a case of waiting for the right moment to line the cloud and the unsuspecting holiday maker up in the viewfinder and pressing the shutter, although I did need to dial in -0.7ev exposure compensation to make sure the whites of the cloud didn't over-expose.
