As an amateur photographer I've had an almost lifelong love affair with light. I'll go into raptures as the first light of dawn grazes the landscape, or when the underside of a cloudbank catches the last rays of the setting sun.
One of my absolute favorite lighting conditions is shown in this photograph of the dunes on Talacre beach in North Wales.
Overhead, brooding storm clouds are providing me with a sky that's full of drama and menace, while out to sea the clear sky allows the sunlight to stream through and illuminate the dunes with beautiful golden light. The constrast between the darkening sky and sunlit dunes is just glorious and my heart's singing as I take the photos.
