Driving back through the beautiful welsh countryside early one summer's morning after an all night photo shoot at Cregennan Lakes, my route home took me through Bala, alongside Llyn Tegid.
The dawn breeze had faded away, and there was hardly a breath of wind to ripple the surface of the water so I decided to break my journey and admire the still loveliness of the lake and the reflections of the moored yachts in the middle distance.
Of course, I couldn't just sit there looking at such a tranquil scene without getting the camera out, and I was just in time to capture this image with a family of ducks swimming across the lake in front of me.
I used a 2 stop ND grad filter to balance the brightness of the sky with that of the water, and I also had to reduce the exposure by around a stop from that indicated to stop the white painted yachts from over exposing.
After a few more minutes drinking in the peace it was back on the road and home for a much needed sleep.
