It was mothers' day, and one of the presents my wife Liz received from our grown up children was this beautiful Azalea plant.
A week or so later it was in full bloom, covered in delicate white flowers, so I took the opportunity to set it up in our conservatory for a photo shoot.
I took a variety of images, using both a standard zoom lens and a macro lens, keeping a close eye on the exposure level to avoid losing any of the fine detail in the bright petals.
An overcast day helped to even up the side window lighting and I used a white reflector, just out of the frame, to fill in any shadows.
The blooms lasted a week and then faded, and I'm glad I caught them at their best.
Hopefully next year we'll have an even more impressive display.
