The best laid plans...
The weather forecast had clear skies over the beautiful Isle of Anglesey on the North Wales coast for the afternoon of 7th December 2019, and with the sun setting to the southwest my wife Liz and I headed off to Porth Dafarch to shoot a time lapse video of the event.
Shooting the sunset at Porth Dafarch has become something of an annual pilgrimage for us, and as the sun sets over the bay for only a couple of weeks either side of the midwinter solstice we were keen to take any opportunity the weather would afford.
However, on this occasion it was not to be, as the unpredictable North Wales weather lived up to its reputation, and we were greeted with 10/10ths cloud cover and a stiff onshore breeze on our arrival at Porth Dafarch.
So instead of a glorious sunset time lapse I had to content myself with a few single images of the stormy conditions over the exposed beach at low tide, one of which is featutred here.
Still every cloud has a silver lining, and our failure to film a sunset on this occasion meant we had to return to this wonderful beach a little later in the month, with a bit more success as you can see by watching my Porth Dafarch Timelapse #3 video.
