A lovely summer's day and, instead of our usual day out destination on the North Wales coast, my wife Liz and I decided to head inland to one of the most quiet and peaceful places we know - Alwen reservoir.
Close to its much more well known and well visited neighbour, Llyn Brenig, Alwen reservoir is a jewel of a place.
With hardly any visitors and no passing traffic, the silence is almost palpable, and you are able to hear the wind rustling the leaves on the trees and the myriad birdsong from far off in the woods.
There's a seven mile circular walk that goes all round the reservoir, which we've done once, but you don't need to venture far from the small car park to find yourself in unspoilt beauty.
I took the stills for this panoramic collage just a few minutes' walk from the dam, and this is just one of the many lovely views available from the path as it winds its way along the shoreline.
