My wife Liz and I take every opportunity we can to get out and about, exploring and photographing the beautiful scenery around our home in North Wales.
We're really spoilt for choice, from the mountains of Snowdonia to the coastline of Anglesey, with forests, lakes and waterfalls thrown in for good measure.
But if we want to go somewhere quiet, off the beaten track, we'll quite often head to the high Denbigh Moors and the twin reservoirs of Llyn Brenig and Alwen.
Llyn Brenig is a real tourist hotspot, but its close neighbour Alwen Reservoir is a much less popular destination and, to my mind, the lovelier of the two.
This image of the dam at Alwen, reflecting in the calm waters of the resrvoir, was taken on a summer's eve in late July, with the low angled sun casting golden beams over the rather elegant stone facings.
And apart from birdsong, there was not a sound to be heard.

Filters - Polarising filter used to reduce glare and enhance colours. 2 stop neutral density graduated filter used to balance the brightness of the scene with its reflection.

Comments - Tripod, remote release and mirror lockup used to prevent camera shake.
