Acres of glistening wet sand, turquoise sea and some of the highest sea cliffs in Europe.
That was the sight that greeted my wife Liz and myself as we emerged from the car park at Keel, the largest town on Achill Island on the wild west Altantic coast of County Mayo, Ireland.
The west coast of Ireland was certainly looking its best under cloudless skies and crystal clear light cutting through the fresh ocean breeze.
These conditions are quite rare, as we well know having holidayed here for many years now, so of course we made the most of the gorgeous weather as we strolled along the sands with me taking the odd photo to try and show some of the beauty which we were enjoying.
The view south from the beach takes in a line of magnificent sea cliffs which certainly had our jaws dropping as we drank in the scene, especially with their reflection mirrored in the smooth wet sand.
